WordPress top recommended plugins 2016

We have been developing WordPress websites for years now and found several plugins that are in our “base set” of required plugins we install in every site. We wanted to share this list of WordPress top recommended plugins 2016 to help plan your set of core plugins to be considered when creating a new website. This is not a long list but rather the core or fundamental plugins you should install for each WordPress site.

1. UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore

This is always our first plugin to install. There is a saying “backup early and backup often”. This is a high priority for all of our customers. We would never like to tell a customer that they have lost a version of their changes on WordPress. UpdraftPlus allows us to do a  simple install and backup immediately. We setup the backup schedule &  backup file location and know that we are covered if anything goes wrong with our website.

2. Wordfence Security

We have found Wordfence provides great protection for your website. Getting hacked is not an easy chore to fix. To avoid threats, we simple install this plugin and monitor the traffic and sites activity.

3. Yoast SEO

WordPress already has an edge with SEO but the Yoast SEO plugin gives us extra advantage. It is easy to optimize page content, titles and descriptions. This plugin generates sitemaps and integrates with Google’s Webmaster Tools.

Obviously, this is a short list but critical to keeping your website protected, backed up and found. What do you use?
